Opening of the Art week on Mando

September 4, 2010 § Leave a comment

At diner time yesterday, the group that will be working on Mando until the 12th was complete. The arrival of Waddenart, the artists and the writers has not gone unnoticed.

Through our previous research and visits we discovered the existence of a small café in the town centre in one of the oldest buildings on Mando. It used to be the vicary befóre the ‘old’ vicary house was built during the 1880s. It is called ‘Pete With’s café’ after the previous owner. Conny who has been running the café until 5 years ago was happy to give us the opportunity to open it for this week.

It will, hopefully, develop into a meeting place between the artists/writers and the inhabitants of the island during the evenings. For us as a group it is a great atmospheric place to meet, eat and play, it will be the heart of the project for the week to come. Today it will be the site for the opening of the festival on Mando. In the meanwhile the official opening with the Prinses of Denmark will be on the next island Romo.
